OSHA 300A questions

Who has to electronically file OSHA Form 300A?

Two groups must submit their 300A to OSHA's Injury Tracking Application: establishments with 250+ employees that aren't in a partially-exempt industry, and establishments with 20–249 employees in a designated high-hazard industry. Not sure which applies to you? The filing checker answers it in about 30 seconds.

When is the OSHA 300A deadline?

The 300A for the prior calendar year is due March 2 every year. If you miss it, OSHA still accepts late submissions through December 31 — but a missed filing can draw a citation, so it's best to file on time.

Do I still have to post the 300A in my workplace?

Yes. Electronic filing doesn't replace posting. You post the summary where employees can see it from February 1 through April 30 each year. RegFile prepares and files the electronic submission; your team posts the printed copy.

What happens if I don't file?

OSHA recordkeeping violations carry a penalty of up to $16,550 per violation (2026 figure), and OSHA runs a program that emails and cites establishments that skip the submission. One filing with RegFile costs a small fraction of a single citation.

Who signs the 300A — do I need a lawyer or a safety professional?

No licensed professional is required. A company executive — an owner, an officer, or the highest-ranking on-site manager — certifies the summary. That's part of why RegFile can handle the whole filing for you: you review and authorize, and we file.

How does RegFile actually file it?

We read your OSHA 300 log, draft the 300A summary, and run it through deterministic checks. You review the draft and authorize it, then we submit it to OSHA's ITA. You get a confirmation and a permanent record of what was filed.

Is RegFile affiliated with OSHA?

No. RegFile is an independent compliance service, not affiliated with OSHA or the U.S. Department of Labor. RegFile output is informational, not legal advice — verify against your adopted rule.
